In 2023, CWA assisted the City of Saline with updating their Master Plan.

To begin the project, CWA helped City officials select focus topics that reflected the City’s current priorities: Downtown, Transportation, Housing, and Environment, Resilience, and Sustainability.

Public engagement was a priority during the update. In order to maximize opportunities to participate, the City invited residents and stakeholders to share their opinions about the Master Plan update topics through several townhall events and a survey. In total, over 400 constituents participated.

Based on input from the community and facilitated discussion among City officials, the Master Plan identified new priorities to meet the growing demand for more diverse housing options, and established a vision for future public amenities and programming in the City’s downtown. The new Master Plan was also one of the City’s final steps in qualifying for a Redevelopment Ready Communities certification from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
