The multi-disciplinary team of Carlisle/Wortman Associates, Hamilton Anderson Associates, and James Renshaw Traffic Engineer will assist the Downtown Detroit Partnership, Jefferson East Business Association and the Villages Community Development Corporation to create a long-range investment and grant strategy along East Jefferson Avenue, from downtown Detroit to McClennan Avenue. The project will create and enact an outreach program. Findings will be used as a resource to develop multi-year grant proposals. The project area focuses on the East Jefferson Avenue corridor, but extends west to include neighborhoods to Gratiot Avenue. With the help of extensive public participation, the team will work to create a neighborhood organizational structure that will bring existing neighborrhood and business groups together with common goals and guiding principals. CWA will focus on providing recommended amendments to the zoning ordinance to include “place making” criteria, and an integrated approach to land use planning. In addition, CWA will review, evaluate, and update several Act 344 Development Plans.
