Parks and recreation master plan
unadilla township, Mi

Unadilla Township, located in the southwest corner of Livingston County, features vast amounts of state land including the Lakelands Trail, a state-owned rails-to-trail which runs from Hamburg Township to Stockbridge for over 20 miles. The trail includes a 10-foot wide paved pathway in Hamburg Township and a crushed stone surface in the remaining portion. The segments located in Hamburg, Putnam, and Unadilla townships are leased by each jurisdiction and maintained and operated by the respective township and the Friends of the Lakelands Trail in cooperation with the MDNR.

The Parks and Recreation Plan focused on improvements to the 1.6-acre Township Community Park located in Unadilla and to a trailhead area located in Gregory at the intersection of the Lakelands Trail. A public meeting was conducted early in the Plan’s development which took place under the recently built picnic shelter at the Community Park where food and entertainment marked the event. The suggestions received were used to develop goals and objectives for the community and centered on park improvement and development, park land acquisition, and community parks and recreation services. Resulting concept plans for the community park and trailhead property were prepared to reflect the recommended improvements.
