The 2008 Scio Township Park, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan articulates a vision for the Township’s parks, recreation, and open spaces. As the first recreation plan for the community, the plan brings together some of the planning efforts Scio Township had undertaken to guide future decision making. It includes the results of the most recent public opinion survey and planning fair, and incorporates components of the Township’s Open Space and Greenway Plan.

The plan was also intended to meet state standards for community recreation planning that are necessary to gain eligibility for grant programs. Following adoption of the plan in 2008, Carlisle/Wortman Associates successfully assisted the Township with a MNRTF land acquisition grant project which will give Scio its first community public park in a near future.
