Master Plan
city of Saline, MI
The City of Saline’s Master Plan update was adopted in 2011. This document outlines the City’s goals and policies that will help maintain a sense of place and community. With this Master Plan update, Saline reaffirms its strong commitment to community planning. The 2011 update considered several planning efforts the City has recently undertaken including its Parks and Recreation Master Plan, Non-Motorized Transportation Plan, Urban Design Plan, and the Regional Planning Guidelines for the Saline Area Sustainability Circle.
Steps, outlined in the Master Plan, have been taken to preserve its character, enhance community services, and foster the community’s economic and fiscal well-being. Goals identified through a planning fair include protecting historic resources, establishing a pedestrian and non-motorized transportation network, and expanding municipal services for an urban development area including a portion of adjacent townships. In addition to the general goals, policies have been formulated for five City sub areas to address specific issues related to land use, land preservation, transportation, and community facilities and services. The policies focused on each sub area preferred land use arrangement, specific development strategies, and site design guidelines.
