Master Plan
Northville, MI
The planning process involved in updating the Master Plan for the City of Northville included extensive citizen input and coordination with City officials by way of visioning workshops. These workshops established long-range goals and development policies regarding future improvements within the community. The results of the visioning workshops were then translated into specific goals and objectives identified by the Planning Commission in order to assist in the implementation of future plans.
In addition to the visioning workshops, the Master Plan was also based upon long range studies for traffic improvement, recreation planning, historic district design standards, and infrastructure improvements. The Master Plan also inventoried and studied vacant and transitional properties. Alternative land use scenarios were developed for each of these properties and preferred alternative land uses were developed and incorporated into the Master Planning document. The Planning Commission also included an implementation portion which identified specific strategies for capital improvements, zoning changes, neighborhood preservation, and commercial corridor planning.
